Iowa Senate Sides With Animal Abusers

Iowa is trying to pass a bill similar to the one in Utah.

They want to ban animal activists from filming the animal abuse that happens inside of animal farm factories.

Senator Joe Seng, is siding with the abusers because he wants to stop workers who lie on their applications just to be able to get into the facilitates and film the abuse.

He said:

"The bill is mainly aimed at the people that are going in there to take down that business as far as being vegan, or wanting to find animal abuse or produce animal abuse within the chambers of the business."

Good thing there is a good guy in this battle against animal abusers.

Senator Jack Hatch said:

"It's trying to solve a problem that doesn't exist yet in Iowa. They are trying to prevent it from happening.

What happens if it's not in the ag industry, but you want to do it in the nursing home industry, in the hospital industry or the school industry, that's when their argument falls apart."

Lawmakers feel that the law will become law with the support of Governor Terry Branstad.

We really hope the governor gets some sense into him by the end of the week when he's due to sign the law!

Take a cue from Katherine Heigl and save the animals!!

Katherine Heigl And One Surprised Looking Dog!

Apparently Katherine Heigl has a secret passion for waiting until people walk their dogs past her house and then cutting the leash and stealing the dog.

Or at least that's what we thought when we first saw this picture!

OBVIOUSLY that's not true. LOLz!

She was saying good-bye to her doggy and her husband as they were leaving the house to take a trip.

Still a funny picture, though.

That is one surprised looking pup.

Katherine Heigl On A Pet Saving Mission

Katherine Heigl has been blogging for iVillage’s CelebVillage, and in her third post she talks about why she is out to save millions of pets from being killed every year.

She wrote:

"At first I thought I wanted this blog to speak to those capable of cruelty, neglect, and disregard but I realized I cannot speak to that. I do not and never will understand such a mind or such a soul, so I have nothing constructive to say to those people."

She went on to talk about how she felt that there were so many bad people and so little information for those who would like to help.

But then she came across some interesting statistics.

She wrote:

"The great news is that there are millions of people like me in the world. Over $50 billion was spent in American in 2011 on companion animals, and that’s during a recession! Clearly there are many, many people in the world who feel as strongly about their pets as I do and it’s to these people I speak now."

So even though millions of homeless animals are killed at shelters each year, there is something those of you animal lovers out there can do.

Heigl posted a list of ways to help:

"– We can encourage our family, friends and neighbors to rescue a pet versus buying one.
– We can promote and support spay/neuter programs and education in our towns and cities.
– We can donate time, money (even a dollar matters!) or supplies to local shelters.
– And, most importantly, when you curl up on the floor, sofa or bed with your most loyal friend, you can remember that the best way to honor the gift they are in our lives is to help their kind any way we can.

Every little bit matters, no kindness is too small. One saved life matters, one unnecessary death avoided matters."

So remember, you may just be one person, but together, we're an entire nation of animal lovers.

Save the pets!!

New mom?

While only yesterday Katherine Heigl denied rumors she is not adopting another child, the actress seems to have no limet on the number of dogs she takes in.

The puppy foster mom was spotted last week playing with this adorable puppy.

We've gotta give snaps to K-hi and her mom, Nancy, for all the charitable work they do for animals. Through their organization, the Heigl Hounds of Hope, the pair rescue medium to large dogs from high kill shelters in the greater Los Angeles area, many are victims of neglect, abandonment, and abuse.
