Shark finning, the cruel process of removing the fins off sharks then throwing them back into the water, has recently been banned in places like California and Toronto.
Many celebs have back this decision, including, Leonardo DiCaprio, Edward Norton, January Jones and Richard Branson.
What's great is the European Union may be hopping on the ban bandwagon and ban shark finning themselves.
The ban would prohibit all boats in EU waters as well as any EU-registered boats from finning sharks.
A rep from the EU Fisheries office said:
"We want to end the horrendous practice of shark finning and protect sharks much better.
When these proposals come before MEPs, I have no doubt that a few countries will seek to water them down. However, we will push for a rigorous ban. We need a ban on finning that enables fishermen to catch sharks in a way that puts conservation and humane treatment before making a quick buck."
Hopefully they join the rest of us in saving sharks and putting a stop to this cruel practice.

She maybe cold to co-stars, but January Jones is always kind to her dog!
Our favorite Mad Men ice queen was spotted walking her adorable dog and her pregnant body around her El Lay neighborhood Sunday.
Recently, January was outed for her cold on-set attitude. According to a CHILD co-star the soon-to-be-moma is as icy as her character, Betty Draper.
Well, perhaps January isn't the sweetest woman in the world — but she sure seems to give her pooch all the attention he needs!

You tell'em!!
January Jones is a man woman when it comes to protecting sharks!
Earlier today, the blonde actress took some time out of her busy being pregnant schedule to write contribute an article to the Huffington Post:
This week, more than 30 million Americans will tune in to watch Discovery Channel's Shark Week. It's easy to understand why: Sharks are some of the most amazing, powerful animals in the world. But as you sit transfixed by high-definition images of sharks, keep in mind that sharks aren't the scariest predators in the oceans. Humans are.
Tens of millions of sharks are fished from the ocean every year, mainly for their fins. As a result, some shark populations are crashing, which has devastating consequences for ocean ecosystems.
If you think watching a shark on TV is cool, try looking one in the eye. Over the past few years I've dived with Caribbean reef sharks in the Bahamas, and more recently with whale sharks in Belize, filming public service announcements with Oceana. I'd love to continue diving with sharks — but at the rate we're going, Shark Week could become the only way to see these beautiful predators.
In 2009, January joined Oceana's shark campaign. Watch her video HERE!

J Jones was spotted walks her dog in near El Lay Sunday.
The Mad Men actress showed off her expanding baby bump as she chatted on her cell and exercised her furry friend.
In related news, costar Jon Hamm recently told press he’s not sure how January’s pregnancy will jive with their AMC gig.
“She’s going to have a baby come hell or high water. I don’t know and I don’t have to know. I’m happy that it’s not my problem.”
Ha! Looks like JJ isn't too worried about it either! Which is totes fine, she has a dog and a baby to worry about!

January Jones hearts Sharks!
The Mad Men actress has been an advocate for sharks since 2009, when she first joined conservancy group Oceana to become a shark activist.
She has swum with Caribbean reef sharks, and most recently in Belize, with whale sharks, the world's biggest shark.
"I wasn't intimidated so much as in complete and utter awe. Seeing an animal of that size in the wild is incredible. And then to be able to swim alongside it? It's a feeling that's very hard to put into words. There was a peace that came over me and a feeling of hope and joy that was intoxicating."
We're glad someone loves them!
