Charlotte Ross Receives Animal Advocate Award

Charlotte Ross, two time Emmy-nominee from Glee, has been given the Animal Advocate Award by The Humane Society.

Congrats!

The award was given to her for her service to the animal protection cause.

She had most recently joined the HSUS on Capitol Hill in lobbying for protection of great apes and phasing out of invasive research on chimps in labs.

The president of the HSUS said:

"Charlotte is a true advocate, always ready to step up and take action on behalf of the issues she believes in.

She was there for us during the successful Prop 2 campaign in California, lending her voice to a measure that will improve the lives of farm animals, and now she is helping us in our bid to end the pain and isolation endured by lab chimps."

After getting the award at an el lay reception, she said:

"Capitol Hill was an eye opener – it makes Hollywood look like a cake walk!

The Great Ape Protection Act and Cost Savings Act is way overdue. We are the only industrialized nation that still tests on chimps. This bill is going to pass; it’s just a matter of time."

The acts together would retire over 500 government-owned chimps and send them to sanctuaries.

This would not only be a humane act, but it would also save taxpayers about $30,000,000 annually!!

Way to go, gurl! You deserve it!
