Reese Witherspoon Is Ditching Python Bag After Hearing From PETA

We've received an update from PETA saying that Reese Witherspoon will be ditching the python skin handbag she was seen carrying.

As we previously mentioned, Reese was photographed carrying a snakeskin handbag made of python (which is illegal to buy in California).

PETA saw the photo and rushed her their video exposé of the exotic-skins industry. The PSA, hosted by Joaquin Phoenix describes how snakes and other reptiles are often skinned alive and how they suffer slow, painful deaths, all for the sake of fashion.

Reese has just informed PETA that she will no longer carry the bag. PETA's Senior Vice President Lisa Lange said:

"We've long known Reese to be a kind person, so we're pleased—and not surprised—that she is hanging up her python bag for good.

We hope Reese's honest mistake will serve as a reminder for all of us to be extra-certain that what we're buying is mock crock or fake snake."

PETA will be sending flowers to Reese as a thank-you for showing compassion and ditching the python purse.

We wouldn't expect any less from America's sweetheart!
